ABOUT HydroTopia

100 years from now an exciting and new sustainable city by the name of HydroTopia, will exist to all people no matter age or race.

Today’s cities around the world are all unique for different reasons. Some are clean, others are polluted, some are developed, and others require more infrastructure. Nowadays, many individuals do not believe that nature matters, as technology is dominating the world more and more.

HydroTopia will have a balance between nature and technology, being a city that believes the two to be significant for the well-being of all people.

Also, it will be a sustainable, clean, futuristic and an efficient city. It will enable people to enjoy great technology while taking delight in the fresh breeze, of nature. HydroTopia will be a liveable area, as it will be free from pollution.

About

What does hydrotopia mean?

Hydrotopia is a unique city, that is why the name we choose is UNIQUE.

Hydrotopia means Paradise.

If we break down the name into two parts you can see that Hydro is included in the name. Hydro means water and since HydroTopia is powered by tidal energy the name fits in perfectly.

Topia means paradise, meaning our citizens in Hydrotopia will feel safe and  become closer towards others.

Where is Hydrotopia?

gulf1.jpg

To build a new city, it is important that there is free space and enough land for all our industries, residential and commercial areas. Hydrotopia will be located in the southern part of St. Vincent Gulf, an area that is surrounded by water. It may also involve sunlight, since Hydrotopia, will be located in the southern part of Australia, which is one of the hottest areas in Australia

Hydrotopia will be located in St Vincent Gulf, because it is a small area and we can expand it to make it bigger and better. Hydrotopia needed a place where water is accessible and easy to run our city

The location is also perfect , because it is close to Adelaide and some Hydrotopians might have jobs and possibly receive education in Adelaide

Tidal Turbines

Tidal Barrages are the most efficient tidal energy sources. A tidal barrage is a dam that idolises the potential energy generated by the change of height between high and low tides. This energy turns the turbine or compresses air which in turn creates electricity.

Tidal Fences are turbines that operate like a giant turnstile. A turnstile is a form of gate which allows one person to pass one at a time. Where in a Tidal fence, turnstiles are similar only underwater

Tidal Turbines are similar to wind turbines, only underwater. Electricity is generated when a mechanical energy of tidal current turns turbines connected to a generator. The genertaor proudes elecrity.
